Building Momentum in San Diego
It’s been a busy season for HGA’s San Diego team. Science + Technology Principal Trevor Wells recently joined regional leaders at Bisnow’s Southern California Life Sciences & Biotech Summit, contributing to conversations around biotech growth, lab environments, and the future of life sciences in Southern California.
And at California State University San Marcos, HGA and C.W. Driver celebrated the steel topping ceremony for the new Integrated Science and Engineering Building, an exciting construction milestone for a project that will support the university’s STEM programs and strengthen connections between education, research, and the region’s workforce.
Closer to home, our San Diego office is officially gearing up for a move in Q3 as the team continues to grow its local presence. More details to come on our new location!

This month’s Market Spotlight asks a simple question with complex answers: “What challenge in your market excites you most right now?” Inspired by our HGA Quick Takes series, we invited voices from across our San Diego office to respond, including a senior project architect, senior project manager, and specifications administrator. Together, their perspectives reflect the range of expertise shaping our work in the region, from design and delivery to technical coordination and project execution.

Shaping the Future of San Diego Mesa College
At San Diego Mesa College, HGA and PCL are advancing the Performing Arts and Administration Center project as part of the San Diego Community College District’s Measure HH bond program. Recent engagement with campus stakeholders is helping shape design concepts around how the future spaces will function for the people who use them every day.
The project reflects a broader investment in learning environments that support creativity, access, and long-term campus needs, bringing together design, performance, administration, and mobility in one connected effort.

Good People, Good Energy, and Puppy Parties
The San Diego office has been buzzing with activity, from an ice cream sundae party with Ben & Jerry’s to an appreciation lunch at Georgia’s Greek Cuisine with CEO Mia Blanchett and a puppy party in partnership with The Cantu Foundation.
The office also celebrated Bryan Vogt as this year’s San Diego Founders’ Award winner, a peer-selected recognition honoring the lasting impact, leadership, and spirit he brings to HGA and the broader office community.
Community Impact
Showing Up for San Diego’s Shared Spaces
HGA’s San Diego team joined local residents, advocates, youth, and educational institutions for the Earth Day Extravaganza at Chollas Creekside Park, a community-led event focused on climate education, ecosystem stewardship, and hands-on activities, including tree planting.
The event, hosted with partners including The Urban Collaborative Project and Groundwork San Diego – Chollas Creek, offered a meaningful way for our team to connect with the local community while supporting the shared outdoor spaces and natural systems that make San Diego such a vibrant place to live and work.
