Market Spotlight
The Future of Health Education
At HGA, we believe the future of health education demands more than incremental change — it requires a fundamental rethinking of how, where, and for whom learning happens. Through research conducted with our Design Insight Group, we identified five themes central to that transformation: reimagining learning beyond traditional campus settings, fostering equitable access for underserved communities, rebranding caregiving as the skilled and strategic profession it truly is, designing flexible spaces that adapt as quickly as the field does, and cultivating empathy as a core value embedded in every environment we create.
This market is featured in HGA's recent Insights article, The Future of Health Education. We see design as a powerful catalyst in this work — and we're committed to helping our healthcare and education clients build spaces that don't just respond to change, but lead it.
Project in Focus
The Children's Center at Mayo Clinic
We know that healing looks different for children — and that the spaces where care happens matter as much as the care itself. For the Mayo Clinic Children's Center at Saint Mary's Campus in Rochester, MN, we reimagined a two-level lobby as a nature-inspired sanctuary for young patients and their families arriving from across the country and around the world.
The 3,400 SF space draws on the restorative power of nature — from forested diorama walls and a dynamic waterfall to colorful lighting and softly twinkling stars — creating an environment designed to inspire hope, encourage exploration, and support wellbeing at every hour of the day. We're proud that this project was recognized with a 2020 Minnesota Physician's Honor Roll Award, affirming what we believe: that thoughtful design is an essential part of delivering the best care to every child, every day.
The project is featured in HGA’s recent page, St. Mary's Children's Center, which dives into the details and story on the project.
People & Office Culture
HGA & Little Bit Better
Our Rochester HGA staff teamed up with the community program Litter Bit Better to help clean the walking and bike paths along the river. Together, we picked up litter, helped keep local trails beautiful, and supported a cleaner, healthier environment for everyone who enjoys our riverfront paths. Small actions can make a big impact in our community!
Community Impact
Timmay 5K
Our staff was proud to participate in the Timmay 5K in support of The Tim Rasmusson Foundation. This meaningful event brings the community together to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation while honoring lives impacted by donation and transplant journeys. We’re grateful to support a cause that promotes hope, generosity, and lifesaving awareness. Money raised goes to the Gift of Life Transplant House in Rochester, Minnesota.
