Renovated Space Turns Wind Tunnel Into Lab
The condensed matter physics renovation, located in a former wind tunnel at the University of Pittsburgh, now accommodates the Sergey Frolov Lab. Centrally located within the research facility a 30′ by 4′ wide trench was designed for dilution refrigeration and cryogenics. An acoustically isolated pump room located a few feet away from the research equipment provides support for the lab. Additionally, a large control room connected to the research equipment via in-slab cable trenches provides acoustical isolation.
