HGA welcomes Fielding Featherston, AIA, LEED AP, as Principal and Practice Group Leader for the Workplace Studio in the Los Angeles office. He will be responsible for expanding the existing corporate workplace client base and reinforcing HGA’s market presence in southern California.
“Our integrated expertise and client-focused culture position us well to define the next generation of the workplace,” said Win Roney, AIA, LEED AP, Corporate Market Sector Leader. “Fielding has a proven track record as a successful business owner, entrepreneur, and team leader. We are excited to welcome him as Practice Group Leader to help create a strong vision of our practice in this dynamic region.”
Featherston has more than 20 years of design leadership experience, from running his own office to serving as Principal Architect and Studio Director of established architecture firms. His work includes mixed-use commercial properties, workplaces, adaptive reuse, affordable housing, medical office buildings, and sacred spaces—projects centered on research, design innovation, and community values.
Before joining HGA, he was Principal and Studio Director with AB Design Studio, and Commercial Studio Director with ShubinDonaldson Architects, both in Los Angeles.
Previously, he was Founder, Owner, and Principal Architect of Process Architecture, an eight-person studio in Orlando, Florida, where he collaborated with designers, clients, contractors, fabricators, and artists to create design-forward, community-focused architecture.
“I have an enthusiasm for cultivating a strong studio culture in support of design excellence and successful business for us and our clients,” Featherston said. “Southern California presents unique opportunities to push design in the areas of workplace and the public sector in service of our clients’ desire to create quality experiences. I am energized to collaborate with a great team of industry-leading talent to pursue this work and the growth of our studio.”
Featherston has been published in ARCHITECT, Metal Architecture, and Dwell magazines, among other journals, and has won several national awards, including the AIA Award of Excellence for Design.
He has a Master of Architecture and Bachelor of Science in Design from the University of Florida.
