HGA Honored at IES Illumination Awards

HGA has been awarded two Merit Awards and three Twin Cities Section Awards by the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) for excellence in lighting design.

The winners of both Merit Awards and Twin Cities Section Awards include:

CentraCare – Redwood Falls Master Plan and Replacement Hospital

HGA partnered with CentraCare to unite a hospital and a clinic on one singular campus to drive operational efficiencies and create a new brand identity. Clerestory windows flood the Mainstreet with daylight and department entrances are highlighted with contrast, integrated lighting, and richness of materiality.

Mayo Clinic Children’s Center at Saint Marys Campus

For a more inviting space, the Mayo Clinic Children’s Hospital emphasizes connections to the natural world with a two-story forest that is home to the lobby and waiting area. Throughout the day, the lively space encourages exploration and discovery, while colorful lighting and twinkling stars create a soft glow at night.

The winners of Twin Cities Section Awards include:

Kindeva

The design of the new Kindeva Drug Delivery global headquarters utilizes color and solid/void relationships to navigate the inherent challenges of placing lab and office programming into this large volume of space. The result is a headquarters that fosters a new company’s culture and its mission for scientific excellence.

Arthur J. Altmeyer Social Security Administration Building Modernization

Located on the Social Security Administration Woodlawn Campus, the Arthur J. Altmeyer building serves as the primary offices for Senior Social Security Administration personnel. A new efficient lighting system utilizes a combination of efficient luminaires with networked lighting controls. Quality cooperates with efficiency, utilizing light reflective materials to interact with light distribution.

Water Works

As part of a plan to enhance the experience of the iconic St. Anthony Falls area for tourists and residents alike, HGA entered a public/private partnership to develop Water Works, a three-acre site within Mill Ruins Park that features greenspace with native foliage and a two-story pavilion that includes outdoor plazas, visitor amenities, and a new restaurant. Warm lighting envelops visitors throughout the building, as they transcend the blackened steel and salvaged timber stairs and as they enjoy spending time at Owamni which, at the perimeter of the building, emits a beautiful glow in the evenings due to a custom designed ceiling lighting solution that is both subtle and delightful.
