Case Study: Dartmouth’s New Engineering and Computer Science Center Moves Beyond Convergence
Together with Alexis R. Abramson, Dean of Thayer Engineering at Dartmouth College and David W. Madigan, VP and Sustainable Design Specialist at van Zelm Engineers—HGA Principal / Design Principal Samir Srouji will present at the Tradeline Conference: University Science and Engineering Facilities 2024 Spring in Boston, MA on April 12.

The session offers a discussion of trends that are driving the design of tomorrow’s transdisciplinary facilities. The presenters will share insight from the Engineering and Computer Science Center at Dartmouth College to examine adaptability features necessary to anticipate fast-moving science and unknown futures (including AI).
The presenters will offer space allocation metrics and rationales for cross-disciplinary exploration, entrepreneurship, design thinking, shared core facilities, and project-based education. Solutions for reducing environmental impact in high-performance buildings—along with advantages for faculty and student recruitment in a very competitive environment will also be highlighted.
