HGA is pleased to announce that Paul Stefanski, RA, EDAC, LEED AP, has been appointed Director of the Design Insight Group (DIG), the firm’s interdisciplinary research and innovation collective. Stefanski steps into the role after having served as Operations Leader of DIG since 2023.
“Paul’s work has been instrumental in strengthening our holistic approach to discovery over the past two years,” said Scott Lindvall, AIA, NCARB, Chief Operating Officer. “We look forward to Paul building on the framework of DIG as we continue to bring new research and innovation to our work and our clients.”
Stefanski has more than 25 years of architecture experience focused primarily on healthcare design. His expertise includes programming, planning, evidence-based design, business development, and team leadership.

The Design Insight Group is a collective of Lean process engineers, practice-based researchers, design thinkers, anthropologists, and data scientists who help clients rethink and reshape their future through the design process. DIG works with clients and project teams, bringing expert insights and engaging collaboratively to facilitate discovery, research hypotheses, and advocate for meaningful change.
Recent research studies include Designing for Health Equity, Understanding Workplace Through Occupant Evaluation Research, Designing for Data and Computational Sciences, The Links Between Workplace Policy and Design, and Co-Creating Campus Community.
HGA also has won numerous national research awards, including the 2025 evidence-based design Touchstone Awards.
Stefanski has a Master of Architecture from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Brown University. He succeeds Andrew Zimmer, LEED AP, who resumes his role as Principal in the Healthcare practice.
