Program: What Science Can Teach Us About Thriving at Work (Even in a Global Pandemic)

How might working in a global pandemic impact our productivity, job satisfaction, and overall wellbeing? Researchers have long associated happiness and wellbeing with productivity, but how can we foster happiness and wellbeing in the global workforce in this time of collective trauma? Positive Psychology research – the science of human thriving – can inform us as more workplaces re-open and we begin to create a new normal.

As a research-driven design firm, HGA believes that enduring, impactful design results from deep insight into the people and passions that animate each unique environment. Over the past few months, we’ve surveyed over 5000 knowledge workers about their experiences working from home during COVID-19, and their perspectives on going back to the office. The Pruitt Center for Mindfulness and wellbeing promotes and enhances the science and practice of mindfulness and wellbeing at University of Wisconsin-Superior and in the surrounding community. Their PERMANENT wellbeing model illustrates the fundamental building blocks necessary for human thriving.
