Eric Roeder

HGA is pleased to welcome Eric Roeder, PE, PSP, as Associate Vice President and Fire Protection Department Leader in Washington, D.C.

In this newly created leadership position that builds on HGA’s engineering expertise, he will direct life safety and fire protection services across the firm’s national offices and market sectors.

Roeder has 10 years’ experience specializing in fire, life safety, and security systems for new and existing buildings and campuses in multiple markets, including government, commercial, educational, transit, institutional, cultural, industrial, storage, retail, and residential. He has worked with jurisdictions to assess performance-based design approaches and address code permitting and approval processes.

“Designing for fire protection and life safety is a multifaceted process that involves a diverse team of architects, engineers, and specialists working collaboratively,” Roeder said. “Paramount is the safety of occupants. The property in and of the building itself holds value to our clients, and their preservation also is a priority. My role is to help steer our innovative design approach toward compliance with jurisdictional requirements and ownership priorities. I’m excited to join an interdisciplinary team at HGA that places high value on clients’ long-term safety and success.”

Before HGA, he was Market Leader at Jensen Hughes, a safety engineering and consulting firm, where he directed client management and business development, and oversaw risk and vulnerability assessments and fire/life safety/security systems upgrades for public and private clients.

His notable client work includes the Boston Public Library; Department of Veterans Affairs; Smithsonian Institution; University of Virginia Medical Center; Office of the Fire Marshal in Fairfax County, Virginia; NAVFAC; Bloomberg News Agency; General Services Administration; and multiple K-12 schools throughout Massachusetts and the Mid-Atlantic region.

Roeder has a Master of Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection Engineering from the University of Maryland at College Park.

He is a certified Physical Security Professional (PSP) through ASIS International and a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in fire protection engineering.

Roeder is a member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE), and ASIS International.
