
San Francisco—HGA is pleased to announce that Deepa Balgi, AIA has been promoted to Science + Technology Practice Group Leader. Working out of the firm’s San Francisco office, Balgi has been instrumental in developing a team of talented planners and designers to serve HGA’s clients in the Science + Technology market throughout California.
“The formation of a Science +Technology Practice Group in California and Deepa’s leadership enables us to strategically continue to provide exceptional service to our clients nationally,” said Chris Martin, AIA, LEED AP, Vice President and Market Sector Leader. “Deepa’s close work with both institutional and corporate life science clients, along with her strong project management skills, allow her to work effectively with large user groups on technically challenging and complex projects.”
Balgi has focused her 25+ year career on delivering complex science, technology, and healthcare projects which help make the world a better place. The fusion of her expertise and careful attention to detail is evident in the exceptional and innovative solutions Balgi creates for her clients.
“Research is becoming increasingly interdisciplinary as public and private agencies collaborate to solve global health, technology, and social changes,” said Balgi. “I’m excited to lead a team of experts dedicated to designing cutting-edge facilities that support our clients’ missions to meet these challenges.”
Balgi has a Master of Architecture from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and a Bachelor of Architecture from National Institute of Technology in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India.
Balgi is currently a key member of the HGA and Snøhetta design team working on the Parnassus Research and Academic Building project currently underway at the University of California San Francisco Parnassus Heights campus.
