HGA is pleased to announce that Sarah Bartl, Cathrine Jansen, Stephanie Nordstrom, and Amy Braford Whittey have been named National Market Strategists.
In these nationally structured roles that build on HGA’s growing brand presence, the Market Strategists will partner with leadership and marketing teams to build consistent messaging and strategies that increase market visibility.
“As industries move toward a more collaborative approach to design, our Market Strategists will play an important role in driving cross-sector opportunities and promoting our interdisciplinary expertise,” said Jennifer Haferbecker, CPSM, Chief Marketing Officer. “Sarah, Amy, Cathrine, and Stephanie bring extraordinary resources to HGA as long-term team members. We are excited about their future success.”
The National Market Strategists’ expertise include:
Sarah Bartl – Public | Corporate

Sarah Bartl works with HGA’s Public | Corporate leadership to implement strategies, objectives, and messaging in alignment with marketing, communications, and business development. Since assuming her new role this past year, she has collaborated with teams to implement a vision for the Public | Corporate group to drive the sector forward in a fast-changing industry.
She joined HGA in 2013 as a marketing coordinator, bringing extensive experience working with architecture and engineering firms throughout the Twin Cities.
“We have tremendous opportunities to lead our clients in rethinking how they work,” Bartl said. “One of the many things that makes HGA great is the collaborative and integrated way we design. I love working with our talented group of architects, designers, engineers, researchers, and sustainability experts to elevate and communicate design solutions.”
Bartl has served on planning committees for the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) Northland Chapter and on the board of the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) Twin Cities Chapter.
Amy Braford Whittey – Arts
Amy Braford Whittey leads market strategy, client research, and messaging for HGA’s highly esteemed national arts practice. She works in partnership with the firm’s arts teams across the country to understand industry trends and share HGA’s expertise and thought leadership with our clients and partners.
“The arts and cultural sector has seen immense changes and challenges in the past decade,” Braford Whittey said. “It’s exciting to be a part of envisioning how arts and cultural institutions respond to the challenges of our times. Helping HGA’s clients achieve their aspirations and further their work with young people, artists, and communities is the ultimate reward.”
She joined HGA in 2013 with extensive experience in the nonprofit arts sector, bringing a multifaceted perspective to clients. She attends national arts conferences, such as International Council of Fine Arts Deans (ICFAD), American Alliance of Museums (AAM), and League of American Orchestras (LAO).
Braford Whittey is pursuing a Master of Professional Studies in Arts & Cultural Leadership at the University of Minnesota.
Cathrine Jansen – Science + Technology

Cathrine Jansen works in collaboration with sector leadership to develop strategies that inform vision planning for the Science + Technology market sector. Guided by industry research, she helps align the firm’s expertise with the needs of tier-one research institutions and leading life science firms throughout the U.S.
Since joining the firm three years ago, Jansen has led the Boston marketing team. In this role, she contributed to developing targeted messaging and marketing strategies in support of Science + Technology as a national HGA practice. Jansen brings more than 20 years of national strategic marketing leadership experience in the A/E/C industry and has a Bachelor of Science in Business from Northeastern University.
“I’m inspired by how the talented teams I work with plan and design spaces that allow our clients to perform their transformative research,” Jansen said. “Ranging from developing therapies and vaccines—to quantum computing—HGA’s Science + Technology clients have an impact on human health and quality of life today and for future generations.”
Stephanie Nordstrom – Higher Education
Stephanie Nordstrom supports growth of the national higher education practice, leading strategic development that aligns with emerging trends and opportunities facing clients. She promotes cross-office collaboration, working with leaders firmwide to grow the higher education market.
Nordstrom joined HGA in 2009 and has been overseeing business development and client relations with colleges and universities across the country for more than a decade.
“I am inspired by the way HGA partners with our clients to plan for uncertainty, strive for equity, commit to sustainability, and re-imagine higher education,” Nordstrom said. “It’s my goal to better understand these challenges and promote HGA’s innovative strategies to help colleges and universities achieve their ambitious visions.”
She is a member of the Society of College and University Planning (SCUP).
