BOM: Designing the New FBI Central Records Complex

While the typical office building is not built to accommodate archival-quality storage for nearly two billion documents, the new Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Central Records Complex in Winchester, Virginia, was built for that purpose.

Designed to streamline the Department of Justice (DOJ)’s worldwide records management, the FBI Central Records Complex is a state-of-the-art facility that features a building that consolidates official records from 265 DOJ locations worldwide to enable the storage, retrieval, and management of mission-critical assets. The facility is operable 24/7, providing the technology and responsiveness to digitize records on-demand.
