HGA is pleased to welcome Alissa Kingsley, AIA, LEED AP, as Sustainability Operations Leader based in Minneapolis.
In this nationally focused role, she will collaborate with the Sustainability Director and internal network to support HGA’s strategic plan advancing sustainability across 11 offices. Among her initiatives, she will lead process improvements to capture sustainability metrics and project stories, implement tools and resources to deepen firmwide expertise, and increase education and staff training opportunities, while working with design teams to set and achieve sustainability goals that align with clients’ values and HGA’s commitments to Designing a Sustainable Future.
“HGA is dedicated to meeting clients’ sustainability goals and challenging the design industry to help shape a positive future,” said Ariane Laxo, CID, IIDA, LEED AP ID+C, EDAC, Sustainability Director of HGA. “Alissa brings significant expertise to her role and will be a great resource and leader to help our market sectors deepen sustainable design practice.”
Kingsley has more than 12 years of architectural experience.
Before joining HGA, she was with Lord Aeck Sargent in Atlanta, where she collaborated with colleagues to integrate sustainability into projects. Notably, she was Project Architect on the Kendeda Building for Innovative Sustainable Design at Georgia Tech, the first Living Building Challenge Certified building in the Southeast. The project also achieved LEED Platinum and won an AIA COTE Top Ten Award in 2021.
“This new position is an opportunity to help a nationally recognized architecture firm raise its existing baseline in sustainable innovation,” Kingsley said. “Now, more than ever, it’s important to consider the impact buildings have on the environment and our wellbeing. I’m excited to work with a team of experts to leverage HGA’s deep knowledge through holistic, interdisciplinary design solutions—and provide a better product for the client.”
In addition to her project experience, Kingsley is a member of the American Institute of Architects and co-author of the 2021 updates to the AIA Framework for Design Excellence. She has a Master of Architecture from Tulane University, and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Minnesota.
