After 26 years at HGA, I’m still in awe of the meaningful, ambitious work that my colleagues do every day. And after nine years as CEO, I’m so proud of the work we’ve done together to evolve and grow in pursuit of our purpose: to make a positive impact for our clients and communities through design.
It is with immense gratitude that I announce the end of my tenure as CEO and the beginning of another, as my colleague Mia Blanchett prepares to step into the CEO role in January 2024. In her multiple leadership roles throughout her time at HGA—as a past member of our Board of Directors and as our Public Market Sector Leader—Mia has demonstrated a sense of curiosity and empathy and a focused, thoughtful brand of leadership that I believe will benefit HGA for years to come.
In preparation for this transition, we recently updated our strategic plan to align with what people across the firm are experiencing today and envisioning for tomorrow. We engaged more than 100 colleagues across offices, practices, and disciplines in the process, from recent hires to long-time employees. The conversations were inspiring and challenging, and had a significant impact on how we continue to evolve our holistic approach to design and the focus we have placed on the growth and development of all of our people. The plan is also a great foundation for a successful transition as Mia prepares to lead HGA.
Mia—and all of HGA’s leaders—consistently inspire their teams to do their best work by empowering people through an inclusive and supportive culture. I look forward to continuing to reinforce this culture as I return to my role as Design Principal, doing what I love most: working collaboratively with team members and clients to create beautiful, meaningful architecture that enriches our communities.
Finally, thank you for being part of this chapter for me and for HGA, and please help me congratulate Mia as she begins the next one. I’m confident in the firm’s path and can’t wait to work with her as she guides HGA forward.
