Pilar Mendez Joins HGA as Healthcare Principal in Southern California 

Pilar Mendez, Associate AIA, DBIA, LEED AP, has joined HGA as a Principal and Associate Vice President focused on healthcare. She will be instrumental in leading project teams and managing client relations for the firm’s expanding healthcare market in Southern California.

Mendez’s experience includes healthcare, higher education, workplace, and residential projects from conceptual design through construction. Her expertise includes strategic planning, design, project management, and multiple project delivery methods, including Design-Build, Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), and Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR). 

Throughout her career, she has led design teams for clients in California, such as Palomar Medical Center, Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center, California University of Science and Medicine, Adventist Health, Cedars-Sinai, Keck Medicine of USC and Keck Graduate Institute. 

Before joining HGA, Mendez held positions with several design firms in Los Angeles, including most recently SmithGroup, where she was a Senior Project Manager for the healthcare practice and Architecture Discipline Leader. 

She has presented at industry conferences, including Healthcare Project Delivery Conference and DBIA Western Pacific Regional Conference. 

Mendez has a Master of Architecture from Southern California Institute of Architecture and a Bachelor of Architecture from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia.
