International Embassies and Consulates
HGA has been working with design partner, RKA (formerly richard+bauer), on a number of new consulate compounds for U. S. Department of State OBO under an existing IDIQ contract. Locations include: Hyderabad, India; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Hermosillo, Mexico; Matamoros, Mexico; and Doha. Qatar. HGA acts as the associate architect and RKA is the lead designer on all projects. We provided architecture and engineering services that cover both new construction and modernization projects for diplomatic facilities worldwide.
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
The building will be composed of five different support buildings, a below-grade parking facility, and a 13-story new office building, that will house all consular and diplomatic functions. It will be located on the site of the former Olympics Headquarters Building in a dense, urban site in the central business district of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Hyderabad
This U.S. Consulate is being built on a site at the western edge of the Hyderabad financial and high-tech districts. This zone has been created by the government to promote the growth of the technology sector. The project will serve all U.S. consulate functions within the region. It will be comprised of a multi-building compound, which will house an office building, three perimeter entry pavilions, a guard residence, utility building, recreation area and warehouse.
Doha, Qatar
The 12-acre campus will provide a sustainable and state-of-the-art platform for U.S. diplomacy in Doha.
Hermosillo, Mexico
This is a 109,000 SF U.S. Consulate that will achieve the diplomatic mission while meeting today’s rigorous security and technical standards. The consulate is designed to be a secure and safe building to efficiently process a number of daily visa applicants. The objective also includes easy and simple future expansion for both consular services and a Marine Security Guard Residence.
