Tennessee State Museum has won a First Place ASHRAE Technology Award for outstanding achievement in the design and operation of energy-efficient buildings in the New Public Assembly category.
Designed by HGA in association with EOA Architects, the classically inspired museum along the Bicentennial Mall in Nashville provides modern, state-of-the-art exhibit, community, and event spaces that chronicle the diverse history of the State of Tennessee.
Programming includes six permanent galleries dedicated to different cultural and historic themes; five smaller galleries for temporary exhibits; a Children’s Gallery for ages three to eight; Tennessee Time Tunnel with artifacts and interactive technology; and a 250-seat Digital Learning and Outreach Center.
Through an integrated architecture and engineering process, HGA delivered cost-effective energy solutions that met the critical temperature and humidity requirements for artifacts and changing collections. Energy systems include an air-handling system with thoughtful distribution and highly-efficient modular cooling and heating plant.
