Designing for Creativity
Weyco Group, a shoe design, manufacturer and distributor for shoe brands such as Florsheim, Nunn Bush, Stacy Adams and Bogs, was running out of office space at their headquarters and North American distribution center in Glendale, Wisconsin.
With a long-term growth plan in mind, Weyco Group knew they had changed how they worked. This office expansion presented the opportunity to align their workplace to better suit today’s collaborative design process with adaptability for the future. Highly creative departments of Design, Marketing, and Product Development now occupy a space that inspires, allowing them to take creativity and product innovation to the next level at the exact time the industry was experiencing a seismic shift in customer buying habits.
This former storage mezzanine is now a daylight infused, flexible workplace filled with team collaboration areas where technology, hand sketching, and prototype fabrication set flight to creativity and design. Brand messaging is woven throughout the design details and showcases the uniqueness of each shoe brand and their rich history. The company’s products, people, and culture inspired each element of the design- from the placement of the centrally located communicating stair to connect the two floors, through workplace planning and architectural detailing, furnishings, materiality, textures and fabrics. This truly transformational workplace supports the business values of this inspirational and creative company.Portfolio
