Cohesive Campus for Seniors

Swift County Benson Hospital (SCBH) is a small rural hospital, with a surgery center, clinic, and assisted living on campus. HGA worked with the SCBH Leadership Team to understand their current service lines and operations to plan and design long-term cost-effective strategies for their campus.

At the inception, SCBH Leadership knew that they wanted to add Skilled Nursing, Memory Care and additional Assisted Living to the campus. This was a challenge on the land-locked and constrained site. Through efficient planning, we master planned and designed a cohesive campus and successfully added 16 Memory Care Units, 28 Assisted Living Units, and an additional 50 Skilled Care Units.

Another significant part of the process was creating an environment that invites the community in beyond just when they or a loved one is sick. The amenities added to aid this include a demonstration kitchen adjacent to the restaurant, a large wellness space, and an interactive digital installation for children and families to engage with as they are visiting the campus.

Together, these amenities and the medical and residential services on campus incorporated high-quality design, which research proves aids in overall health and well being.
