State of California, Department of General Services – Legislative Office Building Design-Build Criteria
Establishing Sustainable High Performance
As Master Criteria Architect for the new 472,600 square foot high-performance state office building at the corner of 10th & O Streets in Sacramento, HGA established performance criteria for the State of California’s first Progressive Design-Build project and one of the largest Zero Net Energy and Carbon Neutral buildings in the country. This new 10-story state office high-rise serves as a temporary home for the State of California’s Legislative and Executive branches, which will later be housed by other State Agencies, so flexibility permeates every aspect of the design. The Criteria requirements include progressive workplace planning, extensive daylighting, high-rise building systems, urban infill constraints, a high level of security, and a high degree of public engagement.
