SAP ENGINEERING ACADEMY

Training the Engineer of the Future

The possibilities within a workspace can cause a ripple effect across an entire organization.

In training the engineers of the future, the SAP Engineering Academy leads the industry with dynamic, flexible, and technology-rich spaces to ensure that trainees can immerse themselves in learning and efficiently share insights with their class.

The design concept centered around this idea of a ripple effect, influencing the planning process and motifs explored throughout the building.

The ongoing pandemic has created a malleable atmosphere for how we work and learn. SAP’s design had to be flexible and accommodating for future needs and possibilities.

The 56,488 SF facility is a juxtaposition of coding caves, creative capsules, and learning pods; supported by a spacious lounge positioned to introduce maximum natural light into the space. The open floor plan capitalizes on the site’s high ceilings, large windows, and exposed ductworks to provide a pleasant learning environment that is both vibrant and modest.

The facility is organized in a ripple-like arrangement, with the Arena at the center and breakout collaborative spaces radiating around. This design created layers in the various modes of creativity to achieve an energetic makers’ space, where inspiration can be found in every corner.

Beyond the beautiful design, what truly sets the Academy apart is the innovative technology integrated throughout the facility. Top-of-the-line workspaces support engineers of the future with features like the VR “Pop X” Room and the Creativity Room’s touch screen table.

There are several versatile spaces for engineers to learn, find inspiration, and be creative, including an impressive café area, neighborhoods of flexible project rooms, and private desk areas. Throughout SAP Engineering Academy, “future proofing” was paramount to the design process by incorporating hybrid-friendly technology and maximizing flexibility.
