Pasadena City College - Centennial Facilities Master Plan

Creating Spaces That Support Student Community Building

HGA developed a Centennial Master Plan for the main campus including a utilization study of existing space to help justify the need for additional space for the growing district. It also included a land use plan of potential satellite locations in the Pasadena Area Community College District (PACCD) and an evaluation of the District’s other campus and satellites to coordinate programmatic areas, quantify growth, and propose expansion design direction. The project began with a competition, and HGA provides updates to this living document as conditions change. The Plan provided justification for additional funding which resulted in a successful $565 million facilities bond campaign.

Features include the maximum build-out of the main campus with phased renovations, demolition, and new construction, open space and circulation recommendations, and community engagement. Most importantly, it established a framework to support the District’s Career Communities and improve student outcomes. HGA’s scope of work also included sustainability, site and infrastructure analysis/recommendations, and a comprehensive wayfinding plan with standards.
