Ideal Patient Flow & Experience

HGA worked closely with NMG leadership to develop the ideal patient flow and experience from the early pre-design phases to verify the space allocation of the 24th floor of an urban outpatient tower. Time and efficiency patient volume analyses were studied to confirm opportunities for REI to expand service line capacity with the clinic and procedural modules, beyond the current operational model.

The design focused on separating the clinic patients from the procedural patients, and locating the flow for daily monitored patients with quick and easy access from the front registration area to diminish travel distances. The overall department maximizes the stunning Chicago and Lake Michigan views for patient and staff alike creating a calming and private environment for all while also optimizing spaces with daylight available. Careful and detailed planning took place for all areas, but most especially the laboratory areas, where every piece of equipment was carefully located while at the same time designing for efficiency and future flexibility as a key element.
