Mayo Clinic - River Room Renovation

Renovation for Respite

From its early beginnings, when the Mayo Brothers first started the Mayo Clinic, the institution has believed in resiliency through providing respite for staff members. The River Room, located at Mayo Clinic’s downtown Rochester campus, gives voting staff (directors, leaders, physicians, scientists and administrative leadership) a space to recharge and lounge with free beverages and healthy snacks, computers, tables for gatherings, and additional food for purchase. Having last been updated in 2008, the space was cramped, difficult to access and no longer served the Mayo’s growing needs. HGA’s designers worked with the Mayo to improve access into and through the space with a new layout and finishes. A new, self-serve cantina allows the nearly 2500 staff users to select from several different types of beverages and coffee.
