Flexibility and a Fast Timeline

The Design/Build team of HITT Contracting and HGA are directing the design and construction of the Tier III Data Center.

Resting on a nine-acre site, this three-story mission critical facility contains redundancy features for failure and maintenance. It employs the Performance Optimized Datacenter (POD) concept, and is phased for future expansion. To meet the 18-month schedule for ARRA-funded projects, the Design-Build team released early packages for fabrication and purchase of long-lead items, such as electrical equipment and early foundation packages. To further shorten the schedule, pre-cast concrete was selected as the structural system. The pre-cast concrete structure and insulated pre-cast panels for the exterior skin helped meet the progressive collapse, energy conservation, and fireproofing requirements, as well as provide increased structural spans. These increased spans allowed for a column-free computer room space and maximum flexibility for future planning.
