District Cooling Saint Paul, Cooling Plant

Combining Systems to Enhance Efficiency

Working with one of the most recognized District Energy systems in the world, HGA’s engineering team designed a tie-in with a major urban hospital across the city to co-produce chilled water for distribution to major office buildings and a state capitol complex. Engineers worked concurrently with the construction of a new cooling plant and storage tank that holds more than 4 million gallons of chilled water. The design allows the hospital to send chilled water to the district system and, conversely, ties the hospital into the district cooling system, allowing the two plants to obtain maximum efficiency.
