Columbia Heights Public Library
21st Century Library Becomes Urban Community's Destination
This 22,600-SF library in the heart of downtown features a contemporary brick façade with roofline extending over the two main entries to create a dramatic focal point. The program includes separate children, teen, and adult reading areas, 80-seat community room, smaller meeting rooms, central information desk, and new computers. The light-filled interior introduces wood panels, glass walls, and distinct finishes in the adult, teen and children’s areas.
The library is part of Xcel Energy’s Energy Design Assistance (EDA) program, which incorporates energy-efficient strategies.
