Colliers

Office Consolidation To Enhance Future Growth

To better position itself for future market growth and greater visibility, Colliers International consolidated three Silicon Valley offices into a centrally located 25,000 square-foot workplace in a downtown San Jose high-rise within the booming South Bay business core.

The new office celebrates Colliers’ collaborative culture with an elevated Silicon Valley tech vibe, positioned to offer the commercial brokerage firm a competitive edge in recruiting top talent and better serving its growing client base. After completing staff surveys and research studies to better understand Colliers’ work culture and business model, the design team focused on promoting an experiential atmosphere to encourage teamwork within a sophisticated, timeless environment.

The open space plan accommodates a growing staff while reducing square footage, from 36,000 combined square feet in the existing three offices to 25,000 square feet in the consolidated space. Yet by replacing private offices with open workspaces within department neighborhoods, the new office has room to grow over the next 10 years.

A reception area with clustered lounge seating and large video monitor visually connects with an adjacent glass-front main conference room. Just beyond the reception, a variety of individual and multipurpose spaces offer choices in workstyles and functions, from open workstations, to smaller glass-front offices/conference rooms for private consultation, café-style booth seating for one-on-one meetings, and a community kitchen with counter and table seating.

Aesthetically, neutral tones, polished concrete floor, ash wood accents, textural upholsteries, reused existing light fixtures in select areas, and exposed ceiling and ductwork complete a timeless environment that provides a template for future offices nationally.
