Boston University - Makechnie Study Center

Designed For Comfort, Productivity & Focus

Modern technology, natural light, and comfort drive the design of this media-focused campus center.

The renovated George K. Makechnie Study Center (MSC) at Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences provides a broad range of media services for students, faculty and staff for computing, media and library needs.

The design focus of the 3,000 SF renovation was to create a visible, ergonomically and psychologically comfortable open study space with access to natural light. The new center contains a central quiet zone, featuring 11 new computer workstations and office equipment, that is encompassed by glass-walled offices and group study rooms equipped with high-definition LCD panels. The facility also features the Dean’s conference room, a centralized home for the MSC staff, and a digital editing suite, all with abundant natural light.
