Health and Cancer Center

Community Convenience

Located less than one mile from the hospital campus, the integrated Health Center and Vince Lombardi Cancer Center provides the community with cancer treatment services in one convenient location. Situated within a commercial district bordered by small businesses and a large conservancy, HGA’s design integrates the natural surroundings, helping to reduce the stressful effects of cancer treatment. The Cancer Center includes two linear accelerators, 25 chemotherapy infusion bays, and exam and support space for radiation and medical oncology. The medical office building provides pain management, ophthalmology and a retina specialist group, as well as procedural, exam, retail and support spaces. The state-of-the art facility has allowed Aurora to serve nearly 30 percent more patients than previously.

Shifting the cancer programs from the existing Kenosha Medical Center achieved a number of goals for the community and Aurora:

  • Establish easier access for patients and staff using an integrated, multi-campus approach
  • Maximize views to the adjacent nature preserve
  • Co-locate building and staff support functions to create greater efficiencies
  • Provide the existing medical center more space to expand other programs
