City of Hope | Antelope Valley Cancer Center
Comprehensive Cancer Center Serves Rural Community
City of Hope, in partnership with Antelope Valley Hospital, provides unsurpassed cancer care to Lancaster through the new 56,195 SF Cancer and Community Education Center. The center advances City of Hope’s goal to provide access to cancer research and treatment for under-served groups by strategically locating comprehensive centers in rural areas. Its comprehensive nature creates a single location for all aspects of a patient’s care, establishing a continuum of care as the patient moves through diagnosis and treatment.
The cancer center provides radiation oncology, infusion, clinical trials and medical and surgical oncology. The Community Education Center includes a 177-seat auditorium, conference rooms and a cancer resource center. The second floor is currently shelled and will accommodate medical office space in the future.
Using Lean principles, HGA planned and designed the cancer center to maximize workflow efficiencies while simultaneously providing a welcoming atmosphere. Infusion stations and exam rooms are located along the exterior wall for patients to have natural light and views during treatment. Located in the central core, exam rooms serving the radiation and surgical oncology departments are able to flex as patient volumes fluctuate. Conference and consultation rooms are located within the core to maximize physician and staff collaboration.Portfolio
