Advocate Aurora Health - Aurora Medical Center Sheboygan County

From Field to Health

With collaboration from local communities and business leaders at the heart of this project, Advocate Aurora Health (AAH) and HGA partnered to deliver a welcoming hospital for Sheboygan County’s growing community. With innovations in design proven to enhance the delivery of care, this hospital has a total patient centered experience in a healing environment.

Using AAH’s standards with HGA’s Lean principles and Evidence-based Design, our team worked with Aurora Sheboygan leadership and caregivers to direct a series of interactive workshops with staff, physicians, and community members to explore the ideal patient experience and formulate a vision for the new Medical Center. During the clinic design, HGA introduced data analytic dashboards to illustrate space usage and optimization. Together with Aurora Sheboygan leadership, HGA reduced their clinic program space by 30% and increase patient throughput by over 10%.

The 420,000 SF three-story hospital provides imaging, diagnostics, emergency, orthopedics, vascular, surgical and women’s services. Inpatient resources include a consolidated 100,000 SF outpatient primary and specialty clinic for a single point of services, as well as a laboratory for innovative ideas, systems, relationships and technologies. The overall design creates a wellness environment developed around a sunken courtyard with access to amenities with patient views to the dense forest and ravine.
