A Modular Observation Unit

To address immediate capacity issues and create additional flexibility to treat same day surgery patients, Advocate Aurora Health collaborated with HGA and The Boldt Company on an 8,000 SF modular prefabricated solution to quickly add high-quality patient beds to the Grafton campus. Remarkably, this unit was designed and delivered in just 8 months, a process that typically takes about 2 years through traditional design and construction methods.

The 16-bed observation unit uses evidence-based design and features from traditional patient units that address work efficacy, deployment, visibility, and well-being to support clinical best practice.  In addition to patient beds, the unit has a staff lounge, bathrooms, and fully integrated MEP systems to support the unit as an extension of the campus.

Aligned with the Advocate Aurora Health system standards, the unit functions seamlessly with the existing facility.
