Stockbridge-Munsee Health and Wellness Center
Started as a volunteer effort by traveling physicians in a mobile home in the 1970s, the Stockbridge-Munsee Health and Wellness Center opened its permanent home in 2000. Since then, the clinic has provided vital health resources for the Stockbridge-Munsee Community Band of Mohican Indians while fulfilling its commitment to “preserve the natural resources in a pristine condition for the next seven generations.”
When updating their Health & Wellness Center’s HVAC system, the Stockbridge-Munsee Community found an ideal solution that combined their commitment to renewable resources with modern geothermal technology, pulling energy from the earth to push toward energy sovereignty and reduce its carbon footprint. Designed in partnership with HGA and Ahern, the geothermal system is netting more than 86 percent energy savings from propane reduction alone in its first year of operation.
