MINNEAPOLIS (May 4, 2022) — Interdisciplinary design firm HGA is pleased to announce the formation of a new national Interior Design leadership team. The collaborative model—with three leaders at the helm—was formed to support the accelerated growth of HGA’s award-winning national interior design practice.

Each new leader has a particular focus: Design Principal Paula Storsteen is charged with cultivating the national practice; Principal Lisa Macaluso will guide business development; and Senior Interior Designer Haley Nelson will focus on advancing expertise.

HGA has ascended Interior Design magazine’s Top 100 Giants list to its current ranking of 21, which reflects the strength of the practice within HGA’s interdisciplinary environment. Built to capitalize on recent growth and its strong existing culture, the new structure will provide expanded mentorship, career growth, and leadership opportunities. It will also help build connections across all regions and markets within the firm.

About the Leaders

National Interior Design Practice Leader and Design Principal Paula Storsteen NCIDQ, IIDA, LEED AP, has been a strong culture-builder at HGA, most recently as the Minneapolis Interior Design Practice Group Leader. In this new position, Paula will foster a shared experience for interior designers across the firm, building pathways for talent, and developing new tools and resources.

San Jose-based Principal and National Interior Design Business Development Leader Lisa Macaluso IIDA, LEED AP, will focus on creating a culture of business development by making internal connections and building client relationships. Whether it’s mentoring emerging talent, delving deep into client needs, or expanding interior design across geographies and markets, Lisa will connect the dots between HGA’s teams and its clients.

Haley Nelson, ASID, IIDA, LEED AP, WELL AP, National Interior Design Expertise Leader and Senior Interior Designer based in Los Angeles, will use the power of design to elevate HGA’s interior design expertise and build the firm’s reputation. Leveraging her commitment to empowering people to make change, Haley will continue to build a shared intention and level of craft within the practice, leveraging research to amplify the impact of the interior environment as well as the stories behind the design.

“Guided by a collective and ambitious vision for interior design, this collaborative leadership team is designed to build on the momentum of an already powerful practice. Their deep expertise and leadership will help us foster the empathetic, research-based approach we work to deliver, and contribute to an even deeper understanding of our clients, resulting in distinctive design,” said Tim Carl, CEO of HGA.
