Marty Fifer Joins HGA As Healthcare Principal in Southern California

HGA is pleased to welcome Marty Fifer, AIA, NCARB, DBIA, EDAC, as Associate Vice President and Healthcare Principal, co-located in our Los Angeles and San Diego offices.

He will focus on new business opportunities, client relations, and team processes for our growing healthcare practice throughout southern California.

“Marty brings extensive insight into the strategic opportunities driving the healthcare industry today,” said Robert Cull, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, Vice President and Healthcare Principal with HGA in Los Angeles. “He has worked with top clients throughout California, balancing project goals, budgets, and schedules to achieve innovative design solutions and value. He is integral to our success as we continue to expand our design services and market range.”

Fifer has more than 28 years of experience managing interdisciplinary design teams on a range of project scales and delivery methods. His expertise includes project management, Lean construction, Six Sigma process improvement, evidence-based design, Design-Build delivery, and campus master planning.

“HGA’s commitment to client service and evidence-based design aligns with my values on creating healing, efficient healthcare spaces,” Fifer said. “Healthcare design is somewhat personal for me. I learned the importance of good design from my mother, who worked as a nurse and always stressed how the space can enhance—or hinder—her ability to bring care to patients. HGA’s holistic design approach results in healthcare environments that support excellent care delivery.”

Before joining HGA, Fifer held senior leadership positions with several architecture firms in southern California and Texas. He previously launched his own firm, Fifer Design Studio, in Phoenix and Houston, where he specialized in healthcare, science & technology (including laboratory, data centers, and industrial projects), corporate office, and higher education projects.

Fifer is Design-Build Institute of America Certified (DBIA), Evidence-Based Design Certified (EDAC), and Lean / Six-Sigma Green Belt accredited.

He has a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Arizona State University in Tempe.
