As a signatory of SE 2050, we are committed to reducing and eliminating embodied carbon in our building structures. We will continue to meet our clients’ goals but also challenge our industry to support our planet and the people on it. This means developing the expertise and research to push beyond net zero energy to net positive energy; from a neutral effect on health, safety, and resources, to a positive one.
While the requirement for SE 2050 is focused on structural systems, we have a framework in place that can be used to talk about embodied carbon in all building materials. This document is used to increase our collective knowledge about embodied carbon, as well as to engage with our clients and consultants in this important conversation.
