2020 Tekne Award Winner Digital Transformation

HGA won a Minnesota Tekne Award for the Abbott Northwestern Hospital Richard M. Schulze Center of Excellence in Neurological Care in the Digital Transformation category. The Tekne Awards describes the category as, Digital Transformation “honors organizations using digital technologies to create new — or modify existing — business processes, culture, and customer experiences to meet changing business and market requirements. We look to recognize companies (and leaders) radically rethinking how their organization leverages technology, people, and processes to fundamentally change business performance.”

In collaboration with the Minnesota Epilepsy Group who wanted to monitor neuro patients who have seizures, hospital staff, contractors, and the project manager we designed an integrated system to be used when a patient is having a seizure. Each room is equipped with a seizure sequence monitoring system that enables faster response by care providers and instantly reduces sensory instigators within the room. This system can be initiated by pushing a large purple button at the entrance of the room, or remotely via the patient monitoring system. This integrated system summons the nurse call, dims the lighting, turns off the television and lowers the window shade with one pre-configured setting.

See a video of the system in action and learn more about the process in the video below.
