The new Sutter East Santa Clara Care Center is now open. Designed to expand access to community-focused, quality health care to the region, the Center offers adult and child primary care, an ambulatory surgery center, lab and imaging services, and urgent care. HGA partnered with Sutter Health in the adaptive reuse of the former technology building, transforming it into a modern healthcare facility focused on patient-centered care in a hospitality-inspired environment. Greeted by an expansive lobby with light drawn in from a double height atrium, visitors are met with clear wayfinding, a centralized waiting area with diverse seating options, warm wood tones, and local art, including a dimensional hanging sculpture featuring Sutter Health’s iconic white and teal colors. Staff offices and breakrooms are situated around the building’s perimeter, providing access to natural light and floor-to-ceiling views. A new staircase connects both levels and anchors a gallery for presentations and events. The transformation of Sills Hall at Bowdoin College is now complete, elevating the 1950s building to meet modern academic needs while preserving its historic character. In partnership with Bowdoin, HGA reimagined classrooms, offices, and common areas for the departments of Romance Languages, German, Russian, and Classics. The renovated classrooms feature flexible furniture and advanced technology to support dynamic teaching and learning. Faculty offices are now thoughtfully located adjacent to student study and collaboration spaces, fostering informal connection and engagement. Accessibility is enhanced by a redesigned main entrance, while a new sloped garden brings natural light and landscape views into the lower level. Upgraded insulation and high-efficiency mechanical systems improve energy performance, furthering Bowdoin’s commitment to a low-carbon future. Life safety and accessibility are strengthened through new fire sprinklers, alarms, a new elevator, and replacement windows. Discover more about this exciting transformation, here.

The HGA team and partners celebrated completion of the State of California Resources Building renovation, transforming an aging office into the new California Labor Agency, reenvisioning how nearly 3,000 state employees work. A progressive design-build partnership with HGA, Turner Construction, and AC Martin, the team delivered a comprehensive infrastructure upgrade and a full renovation including a complete overhaul of the building’s exterior and interior. HGA collaborated with the client and project partners to program workspace for more than 20 user groups, addressing specific agency needs while ensuring adaptability for future growth. Interior spaces, including offices, common areas, and lighting were thoughtfully planned to support collaborative work. Each floor offers various meeting and conference rooms, private offices, hoteling stations with sit-stand desks, and lockers for storing personal items. Central gathering areas and outdoor patios further encourage collaboration and rejuvenation. Prioritizing wellness, the building provides a fitness center, bike storage, daylight access, and stairs throughout. The new California Labor Agency offers an inspiring setting for State of California employees to do their best work.

Project Milestone

HGA celebrated the groundbreaking of the City of Bloomington Community Health and Wellness Center, designed to replace the aging Public Health and Creekside Community Center facilities. Consolidating Parks and Recreation and Public Health programs, the center will provide an innovative suite of proactive health and wellness services, including immunizations and health education, in addition to more traditional community center recreation, fitness, and wellness programming. In partnership with the City of Bloomington, HGA led an inclusive community engagement process to understand and address the needs of residents. Scheduled to open in fall 2027, the facility will feature a modern fitness center, aquatics center, café, gymnasium, indoor playground, and flexible programming and event spaces. The site will also create public park space surrounding the facility, anchored by a loop trail which will include a public art walk, part of Bloomington’s Creative Placemaking initiative. The new Community Health and Wellness Center will serve as a vibrant hub for recreation, fitness, and wellness, advancing health and well-being for all in the Bloomington community. The new Center is planned to achieve LEED Silver certification for sustainable design. Learn more about this dynamic community resource, here.
