Event: Join HGA at 2022 Healthcare Design Conference

We are excited to join colleagues at Healthcare Design Conference + Expo in San Antonio, October 8 – 11, where we will present three programs highlighting new research impacting the healthcare industry.

As the industry’s ultimate networking and education event, healthcare designers, administrative leaders, and caregivers will share their latest strategies that support thoughtful design of hospital and clinic environments.

From design elements that support “Caregiver Wellness,” to “Creating an Equitable Environments for a Neurodiverse Patient Population,” to a discussion on the “Future of Nursing,” we look forward to contributing to the national design conversation at this major conference.

See the program details below for more information.

Program: Caregiver Wellness: Supporting Clinicians through Evidence-based Design

Speakers: Debbie Gregory (SSR), Jaynelle Stichler (HERD), and Terri Zborowsky (HGA)

Date: Sunday, October 9, 2022

Presenters will be highlighting how research was used to inform the design decisions for the new Masonic Institute for the Developing Brain and their service a community of people who have a spectrum of neuro-diverse diagnoses, such as those who have the Autism Spectrum Disorder. Research helped drive the design decisions throughout the project phases, and these findings will be shared and discussed by the design team.

Program: The Future of Nursing: Why Healthcare Environments are Essential to the Profession

Speakers: Terri Zborowsky, Renae Rich and Kara Freihoefer (HGA), Sarah Cypher (Froedtert)

Date: Tuesday, October 11, 2022

Time: 1:15 P.M. – 2:15 P.M.

The nursing shortage is continuing to challenge the healthcare industry and is only exacerbated by the ongoing nature of the COVID-19 pandemic. This presentation will report on a series of interviews and discussions with nursing leaders that practice in the fields of nursing education, healthcare settings (from acute to ambulatory care), and design. The findings address changes needed to overcome staff shortages and strategies to address nurse wellbeing in the designed environment, from nursing schools to the highest of acuity settings.
