Grand Teton Music Festival at Walk Festival Hall

Modernizing a Cultural Icon

Walk Festival Hall has anchored the Grand Teton Music Festival for over fifty years, drawing world-class performers and audiences to one of the most breathtaking natural settings in the American West. HGA was engaged to expand and modernize the hall while preserving the acoustic excellence and architectural character that have defined the festival experience for generations.

The project site presented extraordinary challenges with no direct road access, tight setbacks on all sides, and a construction window limited to the months when the festival is not in session. A phased construction strategy was developed to ensure the festival could continue uninterrupted each summer, honoring a land deed requirement that a performance be held on the site every year. With massing changes severely limited by site conditions, the design relies on roof articulation, façade treatment, and material refinement to create an expansion that serves the hall’s future without competing with its past.
