UC Riverside, Student Health and Counseling Center
Campus Destination for Health & Wellness
Located in the heart of UC Riverside’s residential district, the new Student Health & Counseling Center (SHCC) is an integral part of student life on campus, a neighborhood landmark, and a destination for health and wellness. The SHCC integrates a variety of services under one roof as a “one stop shop” for seamless care, increased collaboration, and easier access for students. The new 39,450 SF L-shaped Center is nearly twice the size of the former building that housed SHCC. It is organized into three levels, responding to the functional and programmatic needs of the building, while also reflecting the context of its sloped site. Student Health Services provides medical services and counseling/psychological services to students — the two largest departments in the building. The facility is also home to Case Management Services and the Student Wellbeing, Intervention, and Follow-up Team (SWIFT), which handles crisis response. UC Riverside’s health promotion and education department, The Well, and Basic Needs, which assists with housing and food, also have space at the SHCC.
