University of Arkansas, Windgate Studio + Design Center
New Hub for Arts
The Windgate Studio + Design Center, situated within a developing neighborhood southeast of the UA main campus, establishes and anchors a new urban environment tailored to support the mission of the School of Art, contributes to ambitious regional arts initiatives, and fosters continued redevelopment of the surrounding South Fayetteville neighborhood.
The new Windgate Studio + Design Center seeks to remove limitations through the creation of an open, spatially rich environment, and encourage collaboration and engagement between disciplines while providing the functional space, tools and resources necessary for students and faculty to fully realize their ambitions. The building and the funding that made it possible are a tangible demonstration of a remarkable commitment to the arts and their importance in the future of the region.
The NASAD Accredited Studio + Design Center provides approximately 150,000 square feet of studio, classroom, faculty research, and support spaces dedicated to ceramics, printmaking, drawing, painting, graphic design, and photography. Community focused studios, professional and student exhibit spaces, and a series of purposefully framed landscapes foster new interdisciplinary connections, engage the surrounding neighborhood, and position the district as a regional and national hub for the arts.
