Normandale Community College - Comprehensive Facilities Plan
Reinvesting in Existing Campus Resources
As the third largest institution in the Minnesota State Colleges and University system, Normandale Community College’s mission is to cultivate a welcoming college community, foster every student’s talents, and build an equitable world.
The 5-year update to NCC’s Comprehensive Facilities Plan was an opportunity to align their infrastructure with their current goals, including eliminating the educational equity gap by 2025; achieving a completion rate of 50% or better for degree-seeking students by 2030; and supporting and sustaining an institutional culture that is culturally competent and service-oriented. HGA’s interdisciplinary team led the College through the planning process, including the following key scopes:
- On-site surveys of existing site and building conditions
- Classroom utilization analysis
- Writing, executing, and analyzing digital surveys to students, faculty, staff, and community members
- In-person and hybrid engagement opportunities, including a virtual campus-wide Town Hall forum with opportunities for synchronous and asynchronous feedback
- Energy analysis and early recommendations for central utility plant infrastructure
- Integrated technology planning
- Development of key project recommendations, including scope, phasing, and cost estimates in alignment with key college initiatives
- Final CFP document including all project findings
