Fostering Health: Evidence-Based, Patient-Centered Hub
HGA partnered with Northern California PET Imaging Center (NCPIC) to design their new location in Rocklin, California and bring their advanced molecular imaging technologies to this local community. Our nationally recognized health care team delivered a facility that balances the customization needed for this specialty with elements that are critical to the quality of healthcare design.
NCPIC, a not-for-profit imaging center, is known to be the nation’s pioneering freestanding non-university PET Center. HGA was selected to provide full-scale design services (from space planning through artwork selection) due to our thought leadership in evidence-based design and patient-centered approach – aligning with the driving mission behind NCPIC: to modernize outpatient healthcare by integrating compassion, experience, and innovative care. Led by research, HGA delivered a state-of-the-art environment that is welcoming and relaxing with a modern spa-like feel, fostering the health and well-being for patients and staff. The overall design of the space promotes a positive experience and includes an inviting lobby and reception area; clinical spaces that include a physician’s reading room, hot lab, and patient treatment rooms, as well as private staff areas that are abundant with natural daylight and easy access to the outdoor courtyard for breaks and exercise.
The state of the art scanner that supports the office’s vital services is built with a registered PET technology and AI-empowered workflow. The HGA design team ensured all electrical requirements were met by upgrading the existing building capacity for the equipment. The high-speed/high image quality scanner is located within the spacious Imaging room that is adjacent to the control room with unobstructed viewing for the technician. The Imaging room includes design details that assist in the patient experience and provides positive distractions; a floor to ceiling graphic of a lush green forest incorporates biophilia through “nature in the space” and specialty “color changing” lighting around the perimeter of the room that allows the patient to control the color selection based on their preference.
A holistic design approach was taken for this project, including integrating sustainability. The entire palette is reminiscent of a wellness spa, and interior finish materials were thoughtfully selected using the best decisions for a healthier and sustainable solution. Our pledge is to prefer products that support human and climate health throughout the material’s life cycle and seek to eliminate the use of hazardous substances.
Ranked within the top 20 of the Top 100 Interior Design Giants, our award-winning Interior Design team led the project, creating a holistic solution that meets the needs of the practice and community.
