Christine Hester Devens Joins HGA as Design Principal

HGA welcomes Christine Hester Devens, NCIDQ, EDAC, as Associate Vice President and Design Principal specializing in healthcare interiors. Based in Minneapolis, she will work across the firm’s national offices with the Interior Design and Healthcare Market teams on a diverse range of healthcare projects. 

“I enjoy anticipating ‘what’s next’ for healthcare facility design,” Devens said. “Throughout my work, I focus on creating environments that support wellness, efficiency, and a quality experience. This perspective aligns well with HGA’s culture for design excellence through interdisciplinary research, sustainability, and equity.” 

Devens has more than 30 years’ experience designing healthcare facilities, from academic medical centers to community clinics. Her expertise includes project visioning, patient experience strategy, and sustainable design. 

Before joining HGA, she was a Healthcare Design Principal at AECOM in Minneapolis. 

She has presented at national and international conferences on a range of topics, including the patient experience, design for health equity, women’s health facilities, post-pandemic clinic design, patient room of the future, and design innovation in healthcare delivery. 

She has served on the Healthcare Design Magazine Editorial Advisory Board, has contributed blogs to the magazine, and was named to the HCD 10 list of industry leaders in 2015. 

Devens additionally has volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design from Iowa State University in Ames.
