Biocytogen | Laboratory and Office Fit-out
Biocytogen - Laboratory and Office Fit-out

Designed to Accelerate Antibody Research

HGA’s work with Biocytogen on design and programming was an opportunity to reimagine the spatial and working relationships of laboratory and office spaces. The new space accommodates growth as the biotech company scales up to over 100 scientists, laboratory technicians, administrators, and executives. A holistic design approach brings a unified palette of color, material, and branding that creates a connection across the various spaces.

Biocytogen relocated from an existing facility to the sixth floor of 300 Third Avenue, a Class A laboratory and office development in Waltham, Massachusetts. The 38,000 square foot space is a showcase facility that places Biocytogen’s capabilities in anti-body development on display—including walls of glass for views into laboratory spaces.  BSL-2 lab areas are located on the east side of the building core, with extensive lab support areas dedicated to antibody production.

Design of the laboratory areas followed modular planning principles, creating a flexible space that can be reconfigured to accommodate potential changes in research needs. For added flexibility, laboratory services for power, vacuum, and compressed air in the ceiling service panels were also designed with a modular plan. Heavy-duty table-based moveable casework can be removed or reconfigured as needed and include pre-plumbed gas services and raceways for power connected to ceiling service panels.
