Food for Health

Two Bold Steps

As an organization Food for Health “took two bold steps” starting in 2018 when departing the pharmaceutical industry, a sector it had been a part of since 1858. The second striking move came in 2019, when the company intentionally evolved from a for-profit to not-for-profit philanthropic enterprise.

These changes ignited the need for the organization to re-establish one, central headquarters for its services and re-locate to a neighborhood immediately accessible to its users. For the architectural-design team, renovation of the historic Schuster Store required careful coordination of restoring original features while integrating functional elements of the company’s needs.

Renovation of the four-level building focused on open event space, a demonstration kitchen, an activity zone, discreet exam rooms, an iconic mezzanine, open and private offices, conference rooms, lounges, and other areas of collaboration.
