GSA Arthur J. Altmeyer Building Modernization

Located on the Social Security Administration Woodlawn Campus, the Arthur J. Altmeyer building, was originally constructed in 1959 and includes 10 occupied stories with mechanical systems for much of the campus housed in the basement and a two-story penthouse on the roof. With many of the original systems and office design still in place, the GSA recognized the opportunity to update the building into a state-of-the-art and high performance modern office to serve the Social Security Administration for generations to come. The team of HGA collaborated with another architect on this complex overhaul currently in construction. The design includes removal of the building’s exterior cladding, interior finishes and systems.
