Bringing a Global Brand to Southern California

HGA collaborated with Generali, a global insurance company, to define the future of their North American presence with the relocation of their office in San Diego, California. The new office celebrates the diversity of the region while implementing a future-focused workplace strategy to provide a flexible office space that can evolve as the organization does.

The workplace transformation is anchored by a shift from pre-pandemic assigned desks to an unassigned model driven by employee choice. This strategy allowed Generali to reduce their real estate footprint while offering more flexibility and choice to their employees in how they work and collaborate. The new office features neighborhoods of open workstations with communal tables and creative storage, a range of collaboration and focus rooms, a work café, and a rich brand story that connects this office to its place in California, but also to the vision of the global company and the services they provide.

Whimsical furniture arrangements, communal tables, environmental graphics, and employee lockers bring a co-working spirit to the office. Each neighborhood and the work café feature custom illustrations and signage as well as a bespoke color palette inspired by different neighborhoods of San Diego – from La Jolla to Balboa Park, Old Town, Encinitas, and Gaslamp. The entire office is united by a large feature wall that highlights Generali’s global locations and the services they provide with a custom illustrated travelscape wallcovering and custom LED lighting that features one of their brand statements.
